Fire District 8 to host open house with fire demonstration, helicopter

Spokane County Fire District 8 is inviting the community to its annual fire service day open house Saturday at Station 81, 6117 S. Palouse Highway.

People can tour the fire station, check out displays of fire trucks and helicopters and learn how to create a defensible space around your home. There will be a Junior Firefighter Challenge for kids and Smokey Bear and Spark the Dog will be there. The day will also include a firefighting demonstration.

A free hot dog lunch will be available. The hours of the event are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
