Spokane County Sheriff’s detectives investigating suspicious death of woman north of Mead

The death of a female in her late 40s is being investigated as “suspicious in nature” by Spokane County Sheriff’s Office detectives.

The woman was discovered in her residence north of Mead in the 3900 block of East Lane Park by family members before 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Detectives believe the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death are suspicious, though details of her death have not been released.

“I don’t know if this is criminal at this point,” said Deputy Mark Gregory, sheriff’s office spokesman. “There was just enough that they weren’t going to call it just an unattended death, but there also wasn’t enough for them to call it a homicide.”

The victim’s name in addition to cause and manner of death will be released at a later date by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office, Gregory said.
