Prep softball roundup: Chiawana eliminates Mead from 4A tourney

Chiawana 12, Mead 7: Annalisa McKinney hit for the cycle and the Riverhawks eliminated the Panthers (11-11) in a 4A Greater Spokane League/Mid-Columbia Conference bi-regional tournament loser-out game.

McKinney went 4 for 4 with a home run, three runs and four RBIs and pitched five innings in relief.

Morgan Hirai went 3 for 4 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs for Chiawana, which faces the loser of Thursday’s University/Richland semifinal on May 19.

Meredith Clark and Destiny Scott had two hits and an RBI apiece for Mead. Shannon Payne went 1 for 2 with a triple and two RBIs.

Idaho

Lewiston 6, Coeur d’Alene 1: The Bengals (4-11) eliminated the Vikings (10-9) in the Idaho 5A Region 1 runner-up game.

Lewiston moves on to a play-in game for a state berth on Saturday against the District III fifth-place team (Capital or Boise, 5pm).
