Mariners Pregame: M’s call up the cavalry, lineups and starters
The Seattle Mariners host the Texas Rangers in the second of a three-game series on Saturday at 6;10 p.m. at Safeco Field.
On Friday, Rougned Odor homered in the 13th inning and the Rangers dropped the Mariners 3-1.
The M’s saw relievers Jean Machi (thumb/hand) and Evan Marshall (hamstring) leave the game due to injury. Reports from the park say Machi is fine, but Marshall was placed on the 10-day disabled list and could miss significant time.
Fellow reliever Emilio Pagan, who went 2 1/3 innings and gave up the homer to Odor on Friday, was optioned to AAA-Tacoma. The team recalled RHPs Dan Altavilla and Rob Whalen and both will be active for Saturday’s game.
All of this was in addition to Friday’s pregame transactions, which saw LHP James Paxton put on the D.L. and catcher Mike Zunino optioned to AAA, among other moves.
Lineups and starter matchup
Starters: RHP Chase De Jong (0-2, 11.05) vs. LHP Martin Perez (1-4, 4.26)
