Mariners Pregame: Angels give Mike Trout the day off, lineup and starters
The Seattle Mariners host the Los Angeles Angels in the finale of a three-game series at Safeco Field at 7:10 p.m.
The Angels are without Mike Trout in the starting lineup today, The team said it was just a regular day off for the superstar and no health concerns. Of course, he becomes the most qualified pinch-hitter in the world for the night’s game.
The M’s snapped a three-game losing skid on Wednesday thanks to some late-inning heroics from Jean Segura and look to make it two in a row before te Texas Rangers come into town for a three-game set this weekend.

- With a career-high four RBI last night, Jean Segura became the sixth Mariner this season to record four-plus RBIs in a game. Segura became the 15th different Mariners shortstop (done 43x) to tally at least four RBIs in a game (last: Motter, 4/23 at OAK). It also marks the first single-season in club history that two different shortstops have recorded four-plus RBIs in a game.
- With his 283rd career home run last night, Robinson Canó moved past Ryne Sandberg (282) for the fourth-most home runs by a second baseman (career primary position) in Major League history. He now trails only Jeff Kent (377), Rogers Hornsby (301) and Craig Biggio (291)
