PULLMAN – Washington State forward Josh Hawkinson was named the Pac-12’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year in men’s basketball, the conference announced Wednesday before the start of the Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Hawkinson, a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic-Team honoree, joins Robbie Cowgill (2008) and Taylor Rochestie (2009) as the only Cougars to receive the honor. Hawkinson completed an undergraduate degree in business from WSU in three years and is currently working on his master’s in business administration. He carries a 3.42 GPA.

He is also one of 10 finalists for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, which recognizes notable achievements in community, classroom character and competition. Earlier this week Hawkinson earned Second Team All-Pac-12 honors for his work in the latter category. He is WSU’s all-time leader in double-doubles (55) and rebounds (1,003).
