Las Vegas 8, Tacoma (AAA) 7
TACOMA, Wash. – Victor Cruzado hit a bases-clearing double in the eighth inning, leading the Las Vegas 51s (30-48) to an 8-7 win over the Tacoma Rainiers (39-37) on Tuesday.
Hansel Robles got Andrew Aplin to fly out with runners on first and second to end the game for his third save of the season.
The double by Cruzado capped a four-run inning and tied the game 7-7 after Phillip Evans hit an RBI single earlier in the inning.
The 51s took the lead for good in the ninth when Dominic Smith hit an RBI single, bringing home Amed Rosario.
Kyle Regnault (2-0) got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while Jean Machi (2-3) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game.
Rainiers starter Andrew Moore allowed one run on four hits and no walks with four strikeouts.
Several Rainiers chipped in at the plate, as five players had at least a pair of hits. Steve Baron singled three times, scoring a run and also driving one home.
Despite the loss, Tacoma is 6-3 against Las Vegas this season.
Arkansas (AA)
The Travelers were off due to the Texas League All-Star game. The six Travs selected to participate were LHP Zac Curtis, RHP Tyler Herb, C Tyler Marlette, OF Ian Miller, RHP Peter Tago and OF Chuck Taylor. Marlette, Miller and Taylor were voted as starters at their respective positions.
Modesto (High-A) 2, Visalia 1 (10)
MODESTO, Calif. – Gianfranco Wawoe hit a walk-off single in the 10th inning, as the Modesto Nuts (43-33) beat the Visalia Rawhide (39-37) 2-1 on Tuesday.
Chris Mariscal scored the game-winning run after he led off the inning with a triple.
The Rawhide tied the game 1-1 in the top of the ninth when Tyler Baker hit an RBI double, bringing home Marty Herum.
Modesto starter Pablo Lopez went seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits while striking out five. Marvin Gorgas (2-0) got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while J.R. Bradley (1-2) took the loss in the California League game.
Mariscal tripled and singled in the win. Joe DeCarlo doubled and singled.
Modesto improved to 6-2 against Visalia this season.
Kane County 3, Clinton (Low-A) 2
GENEVA, Ill. – Francis Christy drew a bases-loaded walk to score the winning run, as the Kane County Cougars (43-30) topped the Clinton LumberKings (32-41) 3-2 on Tuesday.
Mark Karaviotis scored the game-winning run after he led off the inning with a single, advanced to second on a single by Ramon Hernandez and then went to third on a walk by Manny Jefferson.
The LumberKings tied the game 2-2 in the top of the eighth when Ryan Scott scored on a wild pitch as part of a two-run inning.
Kane County starter Sam McWilliams went seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits while striking out three. Sam Lewis (2-1) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Kyle Wilcox (0-1) took the loss in the Midwest League game.
Kane County remains undefeated against Clinton this season at 6-0.
Vancouver 15, Everett (Short-A) 13
EVERETT, Wash. – Kacy Clemens hit a two-run single in the ninth inning, leading the Vancouver Canadians (9-4) to a 15-13 win over the Everett AquaSox (6-7) on Tuesday.
The single by Clemens gave the Canadians a 15-13 lead and capped a four-run inning for Vancouver. Earlier in the inning, Vancouver tied the game when Cullen Large hit an RBI single.
Bobby Eveld (1-0) got the win in relief while David Ellingson (0-2) took the loss in the Northwest League game. Orlando Pascual retired the side in order for his first save of the season.
Several AquaSox chipped in at the plate, as six players had at least a pair of hits. Onil Pena was a triple short of the cycle, scoring three runs while also driving in three. The AquaSox also hit a season-high four home runs.
