Grant County fire and law enforcement officials are investigating a house fire near Moses Lake that left one person dead Thursday morning.

Grant County Fire District 5 was called to a home in the 1500 block of Fairway Drive Northeast near the Moses Lake Golf Course at about 7:30 a.m., to find a home fully engulfed, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

While attempting to douse the flames, firefighters discovered the body of an adult person inside the house. Investigators believe it belongs to the person who lived there. Nobody else was in the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, said deputy Kyle Foreman, spokesman for the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

“There hasn’t been any speculation yet on what caused it,” he said. “The house was destroyed, so it may take a while to determine what happened.”
