Spokane Indians lose second in a row to Tri-City

From staff reports

PASCO – Aldemar Burgos went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs and the Tri-City Dust Devils beat the Spokane Indians 5-1 in the second of a three-game Northwest League series on Wednesday.

Dust Devils starter Emmanuel Ramirez (1-0) allowed one run on one hit and two walks with seven strikeouts over six innings.

Tri-City (6-1) jumped on Spokane starter Luis Lopez (0-1) for single runs in the first and second innings.

Back-to-back one-out doubles in the first by Justin Lopez and Luis Almanzar put the Dust Devils up 1-0. Then in the second, Burgos singled with one out, went to second on a groundout, then scored on Josh Magee’s soft line-drive single to center.

Spokane (3-4) halved its deficit in the third. Austin O’Banion led off with a triple to center, then Nick Kaye drew a walk. Jonah McReynolds grounded out to third and Tri-City tried for a double play. Kaye was safe at second but it got McReynolds at first, with O’Banion scoring on the play.

Tri-City added a run in the fifth on Burgos’ first homer of the season. Lopez was finished for the evening after five innings and allowed three runs on five hits with three strikeouts.

The Devils picked up two more in the sixth. A pair of walks issued by Ismel Lopez were moved up by a wild pitch, then Burgos doubled on a line drive to left to plate both runners.

The teams wrap up the series on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
