Bleeding suspect steals decades-old trophies from Cheney High School
Cheney police are looking for a man who broke into Cheney High School last weekend, leaving behind a trail of blood.
The crime, which happened around 11 p.m. Saturday, was captured on video surveillance. The burglar, a white man in his 20s, broke out two lights outside the gym and cut himself while doing so, according to a Cheney Police Department news release. He broke in through doors in the back of the school and removed trophies from a display case.
He then wandered around the school trying to open locked doors, leaving bloody door handles in his wake, the news release said. He stole three cup-style trophies from the early 1960s before leaving.
Anyone with information about the crime or the identity of the suspect is asked to called Capt. Rick Beghtol at (509) 498-9282.
