Retain rides, theater

The city is spending millions to refurbish an already perfectly good Riverfront Park. The 13 rides and IMAX theater provide a wholesome alternative to other summer activities, especially for low-income families (some children save all year to buy a pass - around the same amount that would be charged in a day or so by the outside vendors that have been mentioned as a replacement once in a while).

Please listen closely to the reasoning of Hal McGlathery, especially since room is available to house these items on the north side of the park. And by the way, we are in far greater need of a fix for our pathetic city streets and to work to stop “lunch shaming” of many schoolchildren in need.

How is it that we can justify a skating ribbon when these other problems are staring us squarely in the face?
