Medicare for all

If President Trump and Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price were sincere about “giving families more choice in selecting their insurance plan” (“Trump pushes senators to pass health care bill,” July 3), they would work with the Democrats on a health care amendment that offers Medicare as an option for everyone. If we don’t like the health care policies being offered by the profit-driven insurance companies in our states or in our workplace, we should be able to sign up for Medicare instead.

My dad is on Medicare, and he chooses to add a supplemental private policy to cover the 20 percent that Medicare doesn’t pay. It’s the best system I’ve seen. It’s fair, affordable and relatively simple. Medicare should be made available to everyone, not just seniors.
