Circles fine, drivers not

I disagree with John McTear’s assessment (June 25 letter) that traffic circles don’t work. Traffic circles are common around the world. The problem here is drivers. A circle has no corners (or if you’re a math geek … an infinite number of corners). No turn signal needed. There is no stop sign.

Yesterday I was behind a car with four adults going into a traffic circle. No obstructions but the driver stopped quickly before proceeding. I nearly ran into him/her and could not lay off my horn (sorry, not Sandpoint etiquette!). If it’s clear, proceed safely … no turn signal, no stopping… what’s not to like?
