Madsen, Vestal misplaced

I will tell you what I find disappointing. Disappointing is going to the paper tube and pulling out this morning’s paper and finding the main headline is comprised of two opinion pieces about President Obama. Granted they are from the two ends of the political spectrum, so there is an attempt at balance, but they do not belong in the prime position of the paper - the important news of the day does. Both of these pieces deserved to be elsewhere in the paper, and if anywhere, in the Opinion section.

Since English is read left to right, even the placement of these two opinion pieces is disappointing. Sue Lani Madsen’s disappointment in the Obama administration and the Obama presidency are her thoughts and feelings alone, as are Vestal’s. It’s very disappointing to be subjected to Madsen’s opining on any day, and I have learned to scan Vestal’s headline before proceeding with reading his column.

To place these pieces above the fold on the front page is, to say the least, disappointing.
