Two suspects arrested in 4th of July Pass car prowling
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men over the weekend after they allegedly broke into cars parked at the 4th of July Pass Recreation Area and stole credit cards.
Deputies arrested Justin L. Radford, 35, of Spokane Valley, and Jacob M. Shields, 32, of Rathdrum, following the car burglaries on Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Detectives identified the men after watching surveillance video of the stolen cards being used at Wal-Mart and Cabela’s in Post Falls.
Shields was charged with two counts of burglary, possession of stolen financial transaction cards, and criminal use of financial transaction cards, the release said. Deputies requested burglary, theft and other charges for Radford.
The Sheriff’s Office said people using recreational areas should secure their vehicles and avoid leaving valuables, including wallets and credit cards, inside.
