Gonzaga looks to stay hot at San Diego, where it has won seven of the last eight games

The Zags’ first game to begin their final week of the regular season will be at San Diego, against which Gonzaga has fared well in the past.

The Toreros and Bulldogs have matched up 90 times and Gonzaga has posted a 68-22 record in the series. Gonzaga has won the last five matchups against San Diego, along with 16 of the last 17 and 38 of the last 41.

In San Diego, the Zags are 28-13, including wins in seven of the last eight games.

Head coach Mark Few is 39-4 versus USD.

Gonzaga rolled to a victory earlier this season, 79-43, on Jan. 26. Nigel Williams-Goss scored 25 points and Johnathan Williams had 13 points plus 12 rebounds.

Last season, the Bulldogs won 82-60, behind Silas Melson’s career-high 18 points. Domantas Sabonis scored 17 points and pulled down 17 rebounds.

San Diego has not beaten Gonzaga since Feb. 22, 2014, when they won at home 69-66.

In the first meeting between the two programs, Gonzaga won 72-62 on Feb. 1, 1980.
