Where is due process

I’m no fan of either Judge Moore or Al Franken. I am also no fan of sexual assault or abuse on anyone male or female. But I am a fan of the rule of law and not the howls of the mob. If either of the aforementioned men actually committed the acts they are accused of the proper venue is a court of law, criminal or civil, not the court of public sacrifice.

I can understand the women involved may have felt too ashamed of embarrassed to bring these incidents forward at the time. They may justifiably have feared for their jobs or careers, but the fact is by not doing it immediately they tacitly enabled the very men they later accused.

The sad thing here is that unfortunately there are people who will claim that issues of simple bad social behavior are now equated with sexual abuse or assault. Sadly I believe this will have the effect of potentially making people dismissive of real complaints of sexual abuse because we are seeing so many cases that are simply bad behavior or just plain pay back on the accuser’s part.
