Boys basketball roundup: J.T. Smith and Mt. Spokane take Catmania nightcap, beat Mead 74-57

J.T. Smith scored 21 points and the Mt. Spokane Wildcats (3-1, 3-1 in Greater Spokane League) defeated the Mead Panthers (1-5, 0-4 GSL) 74-57 in the annual rivalry game between the two Mead School District teams.

In the second game of the Catmania doubleheader, Smith sank four 3-pointers and Jerry Twenge scored 15 with three makes from beyond the arc. Tyson Rogalette paced Mead with 14 points and sank a pair of 3-point shots.

Northeast 2B

Asotin 67, Reardan 56: Thomas Martin and Jace Aldous each scored 16 points and the visiting Panthers (2-2 league, 2-2) defeated the Indians (1-4, 1-3). Tyler Sprecher led Reardan with 21 points.

Northwest Christian 49, Davenport 42: Jacob Gray scored 17 points and the Crusaders (3-3 league, 3-2) beat the visiting Gorillas (3-3, 3-3). Jaden Flett scored 14 points for the Gorillas.

St. George’s 55, Wilbur-Creston 41: Dan Rigsby scored 21 points and the visiting Dragons (6-0, 5-0 league) defeated the Wildcats (1-5, 1-4). Jason Townsend and Layne Smith scored 16 points each for the Wildcats.

Colfax 46, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 29: Carson Cloaninger scored 15 points and the visiting Bulldogs (5-2, 5-0 league) defeated the Broncos (3-3, 3-2). Camden Smith led the Broncos with 11 points.

Springdale 74, Kettle Falls 54: Enoch Clemmer scored 19 points and the Chargers (3-5, 1-4 league) defeated the visiting Bulldogs (2-4, 2-3). Clemmer also had 10 boards and eight assists. Matt Thompson had 13 points for the Bulldogs.

Northeast 1B

Cusick 88, Curlew 37: Colton Hansen scored 18 points and the visiting Panthers (4-1, 4-0) defeated the Cougars (1-6, 1-4). Justin Hanks had a game-high 22 points for the Cougars.

Selkirk 66, Inchelium 25: Steven Davis scored 16 points with eight rebounds and the Rangers (5-2, 4-0 league) beat the Hornets (0-4, 0-4). Thomas Huttle scored 12 for the Rangers with eight rebounds and four steals. Rob Mckinney led the Hornets with six points.

Odessa 63, Wellpinit 62: Ryan Moffet drained two free throws to put the visiting Tigers (6-0, 4-0) up 63-62 with 12 seconds left and they ended up winning by that score over the Redskins (2-3, 2-1). Wellpinit’s Butch Flett scored 17 points with 17 rebounds and nine assists, but his final 3-pointer was off-target. Moffet scored 39 points on 13 of 29 shooting from the field.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 82, Valley Christian 37: Maguire Isaak scored 19 points and the Warriors (2-2, 2-1) defeated the visiting Panthers (3-5, 0-4). Reese Isaak followed close behind with 18 points. Dawson Blew had 15 points for the Panthers.

Republic 50, Northport 43: Lucas Larsen scored 13 points and the Tigers (3-4, 3-2) defeated the visiting Mustangs (3-5, 2-3). Kade Middlesworth scored a game-high 21 points for the Mustangs.

Southeast 1B

Oakesdale 72, Waitsburg 24: Wesley Castanon scored 18 points and the Nighthawks (6-2, 3-1 league) defeated the visiting Cardinals (0-5, 0-5). Evan Henning had six assists and Jacob Himes had nine rebounds for the Nighthawks. Colton Vanblaricom had six points for the Cardinals.

Pomeroy 59, Touchet 38: Jake Tewalt scored 17 points and the Pirates (6-0, 3-0 league) beat the visiting Indians (3-2, 2-1). Dominic Preciado led the Indians with 12 points.

Garfield-Palouse 59, St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse 38: Blake Jones scored 20 points with eight rebounds and the Vikings (5-1, 4-0 league) defeated the visiting Eagles (0-5, 0-4). Ty Harder led the Eagles with 16 points.

Nonleague

Deer Park 61, Kellogg 42: Isaac Berglund scored 35 points and the visiting Stags (4-2) beat the Wildcats (0-3). Deer Park made 10 of 18 attempts from behind the arc. Chase Jerome lead the Wildcats with 15 points.

Timberlake 51, East Valley 47: Chase Gardom had all nine of his points and three steals in the fourth quarter and the Tigers (2-5) beat the visiting Knights (0-7). Jacob James led the Tigers with 13 points. Tyrell Brown had 16 points for the Knights.

West Valley 54, Shadle Park 42: Collin Sather scored 21 points and the Eagles (5-2) defeated the visiting Highlanders (4-3). Armani Luna scored 15 points for the Highlanders.
