BoxLunch, a pop-culture specialty retailer that fights hunger directly through its sales, will open a Spokane Valley Mall location Dec. 15.

The Industry, California-based retailer’s stores feature products that include clothing, collectibles, home goods, collectibles and novelty merchandise, among other items.

With a civic mission it calls “Get Some. Give Back,” the company donates $1 for every $10 spent on in-store or online purchases to the national organization Feeding America to support its network of food banks. Among those is Second Harvest Inland Northwest, which will directly receive a percentage of donations raised at the Spokane Valley Mall store, according to a BoxLunch news release.

“We are thrilled to bring BoxLunch to the Spokane community. Our mission is simple, sell the best product and use our business to inspire and implement solutions to help fight the hunger crisis on both a local and national level,” said Robert Thomsen, the company’s vice president and general manager of merchandising and marketing, said in the release.

BoxLunch, which has 90 stores across the U.S., has committed to provide donations for a minimum of 5,000,000 meals to Feeding America and member food banks in a year.

The Valley mall store will have a grand opening 12-4 p.m. Dec. 16, with DJs, in-store giveaways and trivia games.
