1,400 Avista customers lose power in northwest Spokane
Avista Utilities has restored power to about 1,400 customers that lost electricity Tuesday morning in northwest Spokane due a burned power pole.
David Vowels, spokesman for Avista, said dust, dirt and precipitation mixed to cause sparks on a pole on Mountain View Lane, which resulted in the pole catching on fire about 7 a.m. He said parts of the pole were damaged, but didn’t need to be fully replaced.
“That’s what happened in this case and our crews were able to respond and fix it in a timely manner there,” he said.
Only seven customers remained without power in northwest Spokane by 9:30 a.m., according to Avista’s outage map on its website. Those customers also have had their power restored.
