Wildfire forces more evacuations in Montana

Associated Press

HELENA – About two dozen residences in Lewis and Clark County have been evacuated as wildfires continue to burn around Montana.

The residences near Lincoln were ordered to evacuate Saturday evening. Only five of the residences are permanently occupied. Other residences in the area were told to be ready to leave.

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton tells the Independent Record that the fire burned over the Continental Divide on Saturday.

The fire is burning in the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest. It has burned about 3,900 acres about 15 miles northeast of Lincoln.

Other fires are burning in the Glacier National Park, Lolo National Forest, Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, Kootenai National Forest, Flathead National Forest and elsewhere.
