Sheriff’s Office air support unit earns re-accreditation

The Regional Air Support Unit of the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office has been re-accredited by the Airborne Law Enforcement Association and the Public Safety Aviation Accreditation Commission.

The unit was first accredited in 2014, when it was one of only five air support units in the country to be accredited through the ALEA and PSAAC. There are now 10 accredited units in the country. Both organizations set standards designed to promote safety and efficiency in air units.

All the Air 1 pilots used by the Sheriff’s Office are volunteers.
