Preserve EPA protections
The EPA has recently announced that it is soliciting public submissions regarding regulations to be eliminated. This action is in response to the president’s executive order requiring that agencies act “to alleviate unnecessary regulatory burdens” on the American people.
Please visit the EPA website to read the details of this action. Public comment is due by May 15.
The key thrust of the executive order is that regulation causes burdens to business and thus results in the loss of jobs; therefore regulation should be limited if not repealed.
Are we ready to revert back to the polluted conditions of decades ago to benefit big oil, big coal? Are we willing to risk quality of life for succeeding generations because we do not have the will to control our consumption of coal and oil?
If your answer to these questions is no, then please write to the EPA and comment, following the instructions at the website above. Specific examples of where regulation has afforded new jobs or innovation, or where the lack of regulation has caused increases in costs to correct environmental damage, are most persuasive.
