Spokane proud of GU

All eyes were on GU’s men’s basketball team playing against the University of North Carolina. During the 2016-17 season, the excitement continued to grow as Mark Few’s team won game after game. Everyone felt the thrill of winning. Spokane was in awe. After a long, grueling season, “our team” actually realized the dream of making it to the NCAA National Championship in Glendale, Arizona. Then, the jaw-dropping heartache of losing to the Tar Heels. So close and yet. …

Nevertheless, let’s hope that the best team GU has ever had realizes the significant impact they’ve had. They proved the naysayers wrong and earned respect. More importantly, the team put the college from Spokane on the map, and “we” are no longer just a Cinderella team but an elite team worthy of earning the ultimate award.

GU fans cheered each and every one of the players we’ve come to know. Spokane is so proud to support the Zags, a team with such talent and integrity. Now, more than a little engine that couldn’t to our champion team from Spokane! Go Zags!
