Spokane man leaps through second story window in failed attempt to escape deputies

A man was hospitalized Thursday after he jumped out a second story window in order to escape deputies trying to arrest him on multiple forgery and identity theft charges.

The Property Crimes Task Force has been looking for 25-year-old Cody L. Burgess and 26-year-old Alishia M. Galbreath in connection to a series of fraud cases. A Crime Stoppers tip was received earlier this week pinpointing their location at an apartment in the 200 block of North Division, according to a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Early Thursday morning deputies attempted to arrest the duo and Burgess jumped out a window. He was hospitalized but is facing multiple felony charges when he is released, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Galbreath was arrested on suspicion of identity theft, forgery, possession of stolen property, theft and possession of a controlled substance.

The investigation is still ongoing and additional charges are possible. The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Postal Inspector, U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Marshals and Washington State Department of Corrections are involved in the case.
