Prep roundup: Myah Long’s shootout goal lifts Ferris over Lewis and Clark

Myah Long scored the game-winning goal in a shootout and the Ferris Saxons (5-2, 1-2) held off the visiting Lewis and Clark Tigers (5-4, 1-2) 3-2 in a Greater Spokane League girls soccer match on Wednesday.

Trudi Temperman scored goals in each half and Darby Doyle also found the net to propel the visiting Gonzaga Prep Bullpups (6-3, 3-0) to a 3-1 GSL win over the University Titans (3-2, 1-2).

Allie Baribault had two goals – one in each half – and the Mt. Spokane Wildcats (3-5, 2-1) breezed to a 5-1 GSL win over the Shadle Park Highlanders (3-5, 0-3).

\Clair Neder notched two goals and Cheris Brown added a goal and an assist to lead the host Mead Panthers (9-0, 3-0) to a 7-0 GSL win over North Central Indians (3-5, 1-2).

Charlie Crane assisted on two of Dawson Mulder’s three goals and the Sandpoint Bulldogs (3-4, 2-0) defeated the visiting Lakeland Hawks (2-6, 0-3) 3-1 in Inland Empire League 4A play.

Cross country

Central Valley (4-1) placed five runners in the top seven – led by Ryan Kline’s second-place effort in 16 minutes, 49 seconds – to earn victories over Lewis and Clark (19-38) and Gonzaga Prep (20-42) at a double-dual boys meet at Manito Park.

G-Prep’s Turlan Morlan won the race in 16:23. LC (3-1) defeated G-Prep (3-3).

On the girls side, LC knocked off CV 23-33 and G-Prep 21-39, while CV defeated G-Prep 24-34. CV’s Kearan Nelson won the race in 19:25,.
