Man seriously injured when struck by pickup on Division Street in hit-and-run

A man was seriously injured early Wednessday when he was struck by a pickup in north Spokane.

The pickup fled the scene, and police are looking for the driver.

The crash happened about 5:30 a.m. at Division Street and Rhoads Avenue, said Spokane Police Officer Shane Phillips.

A Chevy pickup with an extended cab was southbound when it struck a man in his 60s. The man was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, Phillips said.

There is a marked crosswalk near where man was struck, though police still are investigating if he was within it when the pickup struck him.

“We can’t say eactly at this point where he was,” Phillips said.

The pickup fled west on Rhoads and likely turned south on Atlantic Street when leaving the scene, Phillips said.

Lanes on Division have all reopened.
