Big Sky roundup: Dano Graves throws 3 TDs as Cal Poly nips Montana 42-41

Dano Graves connected with Kyle Lewis on a 39-yard touchdown with 4:39 to play and Cal Poly spoiled a record-breaking day for Montana with a 42-41 win on Saturday in San Luis Obispo, California.

Graves drove the Mustangs (3-1) 75 yards in eight plays and then weathered a Montana drive that ended when Tim Semenza missed a 48-yard field goal in the Big Sky Conference opener for both teams.

Montana quarterback Brady Gustafson completed a school record 47 passes in 59 attempts for 418 yards. Both of his touchdowns went to Jerry Louie-McGee (Lake City), who had a school record 21 catches for 155 yards.

Weber State 38, UC Davis 35: Taylor Hintze made a 35-yard field goal as time expired and the visiting Wildcats topped the Aggies in Davis, California.

North Dakota 17, Montana State 15: Brady Oliveira ran 22 times for 171 yards and two touchdowns, including a key touchdown late in the fourth quarter in the Fighting Hawks’ win over the Bobcats in Bozeman, Montana.

Idaho State 42, Sacramento State 34: Nikko Taylor and Anthony Ricks intercepted Hornets’ quarterback Nate Ketteringham to thwart two late drives and secure the Bengals’ win in Pocatello, Idaho.

Southern Utah 45, Portland State 31: Malik Brown rushed for 173 yards while Raysean Pringle added another 118 in the Thunderbirds home win over the Vikings in Cedar City, Utah.
