Avista seeking decrease in natural gas rates in Idaho
Avista Utilities has proposed a 7.8 percent reduction in natural gas rates for Idaho customers, effective Nov. 1.
Rates are adjusted each fall based on changes in the wholesale price of natural gas, which accounts for about 50 percent of a customers’ bill. Prices have decreased as a result of mild winter, high production and large amounts of gas in storage.
If approved by the Idaho Public Utilities Commission, the rate decrease would save a typical residential customer about $4.65 per month.
The PUD will accept public comments on the proposal through Oct. 11. Comments can be submitted at www.puc.idaho.gov.
