Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, visiting a preschool classroom at Lincoln Heights Elementary, Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, puts his lapel pin on Muzzan Siddig, 4, left, as “Washingtonian of the Day” for answering his science questions. When he found out she had a twin sister, Malaz, in the class, he gave Malaz a pen with his name on it. Inslee wanted to talk to the school’s staff about his education initiatives of smaller K-3 classes, full-day kindergarten and additional teachers. The students gave him a book they made about their classroom activities. (Jesse Tinsley / The Spokesman-Review)
