Stop library bonds
Every citizen of the city of the Spokane Valley should read the Blogroll entitled “Spokane Valley” on Page A5 of the Sept. 5 Spokesman-Review. “Two rejections by voters haven’t stopped Spokane Valley officials from pursuing the construction of a new library.”
The citizens of the Spokane Valley have twice rejected bonds to pay for a new library. Rather than accept that the citizens they represent do not want to pay for another library, the City Council members urged Spokane County Library District officials “not to give up on funding for a new library and offered to help find money because a new library across from the site of the new City Hall is a priority.”
Apparently, the fact that we voted down two library bonds did not make it clear to the City Council that a new library is not a priority for the citizens. They may find some creative financing to fund their priority, but it will be the citizens of Spokane Valley that will pay the price.
Please call or write the Spokane Valley City Council and tell them that they were elected to represent us – not forge ahead with their own agenda and leave us to foot the bill.
