G-Prep slips to third in AP rankings

The Gonzaga Prep football team slipped from first in the Associated Press preseason State 4A rankings to third in the first regular-season poll released Wednesday.

The Bullpups lost 21-7 at two time State 3A champion Eastside Catholic in season-opening action last Friday.

Richland replaced G-Prep at the top of the heap after a 38-21 win over visiting Skyline. The Spartans, who slipped to sixth, visit G-Prep on Friday.

Mead came close to cracking the top 10. The Panthers would be ranked 11th if the poll was taken out further.
