First field goal

WSU was given great field position on its second drive, and quickly got to the UCLA 19-yard line. But the Cougars failed to connect on three consecutive passes, forcing Mike Leach to see if WSU could make its first field goal of the season. Erik Powell connected on a 36-yarder in the rain, giving WSU a lead it would never relinquish.

Forced fumble

UCLA had one last chance to win the game, down six with less than three minutes to play. Rush linebacker Dylan Hanser forced a fumble when the Bruins completed a pass to Jordan Lasley, and Robert Taylor recovered the ball.

Final pick

UCLA had one final chance to win the game with 49 seconds left and the ball at its own two-yard line. Fafaul was drilled by Nnamdi Oguayo on the drive’s second play, and Charleston White intercepted the pass to end the game.
