Plummer, Idaho, man sentenced to prison for shooting on Coeur d’Alene Reservation
A Plummer, Idaho, man was sentenced to 15 years in prison Tuesday for shooting a man on the Coeur d’Alene Indian Reservation in November.
Cruz Flechita Ramon Soto, 34, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and use of a firearm in a crime of violence in July. His plea agreement calls for five years of supervised release after his prison sentence, according to a news release from the Idaho U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Soto, who is Native American, went to a relative’s house on the reservation last November. He and the victim, who is also Native American, spoke to each other for about 20 minutes before Soto pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the chest, back and neck. The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment and survived.
