Big numbers in first quarter for Huskies

PULLMAN – After the first quarter, UW quarterback Jake Browning was on pace for over 800 yards. He finished the period 13-of-17 passing for 202 yards and three TDs.

It wasn’t just Browning that had it working. UW matched a school record with 28 points in the first quarter and controlled the game after driving for a touchdown to open the game and forcing a fumble on the Cougars’ first possession.

“I’m very proud of how they prepared,” Petersen said of his players. “That was an awesome start to the game.”
