Sen. Patty Murray named No. 3 Senate Democrat

Sen. Patty Murray, who last week cruised to re-election to a fifth term, was elected deputy minority leader by the Democratic caucus Wednesday.
Murray, who moved up to the Number Three spot as Senate Democrats re arranged their caucus in the wake of the elections and several retirements. Sen. Chuck Schumer, of New York, was elected minority leader, replacing Nevada’s Harry Reid, who retired.
Murray had been Democratic Conference secretary, the Number Four position, since 2006.
