Antonio Sabato Jr. wants to be Trump administration’s fitness czar

WASHINGTON – Antonio Sabato Jr., one of President-elect Donald Trump’s few vocal Hollywood supporters, is nominating himself for Trump’s physical fitness czar.

The former soap opera star and underwear model said he would like to work with the administration in a role similar to that of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s in President George H.W. Bush’s administration on the Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, Variety reported.

“I think it’s important to talk about fitness and bring more fitness to schools across the country,” Sabato said. “They don’t approach P.E. in schools like they need to.”

Sobato, who spoke at the Republican convention in July, said many directors refused to work with him after he stumped for Trump. He said casting directors and producers “blacklist” actors if they are associated with the Republican Party.

“For the last seven-and-a-half years, I’ve seen this country led by a leader that’s made mistakes,” Sabato said. “But because I’m in the industry, you can’t talk about that. I’ve had fantastic directors who have said officially to my agents and managers they will never hire me again.”

Now Sabato is looking forward to a trip to the White House soon to speak to Trump about joining the administration and said “It’s great to say ‘President Trump.’”

He also said the industry is changing post-election.

“There’s a lot of producers I know that want to produce their own faith-based, Republican-based movies,” Sabato said. “The studios don’t do it. People are starting their own production companies. Everything is changing.”
