Mike Leach and Gabe Marks held an in-game debate on Saturday
PULLMAN – With the game clock winding down and Washington State’s 69-7 victory over Arizona well in hand, Cougars coach Mike Leach and wide receiver Gabe Marks had a debate.
Marks says the two were debating whether or not River Cracraft, a four-year starter, is the best slot receiver Leach has coached.
“I was trying to bid for River being the best one,” Marks said. “It’s hard to do that when you’ve got Wes Welker. He was giving me all this stuff about Danny Amendola and Wes Welker. I was like, ‘River hasn’t even played in the league yet. Give him a shot.’ He’s big. He’s bigger than the slots that (Leach) has had. HE’s fast, catches the ball a little. Good blocker.”
Leach would call a play, then turn back to his receiver and continue the debate. In fact, the two are still arguing. Because while Marks says the two were discussing Leach’s best slots receivers, Leach says the premise was whether or not Cracraft was the fastest.
