Over 50,000 customers without power in Western Washington

SEATTLE – Officials say more than 50,000 customers in Seattle and around Western Washington are without power due to blustery weather, downed trees and power lines.

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a wind advisory for Western Washington including Seattle and surrounding areas until 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The advisory is calling for southerly winds between 20 and 30 miles per hour with gusts up to 45 mph.

Puget Sound Energy was reporting more than 47,000 customers without power Tuesday afternoon, while Seattle City Light reported over 6,000 customers affected by outages.
