No farewell to arms

Pat Bates (“GOP led around by ring,” July 2) compares Republicans and Cathy McMorris Rodgers to bulls with rings in their noses being led around by the NRA. My mother, on the other hand, compared bulls with rings in their noses to druggies being led around by drugs. (And as you know, some of them actually have rings in their noses.)

I guess I would just say, I’ll give up my right to bear arms when the country outlaws fertilizer, nails and other household items to make bombs. I think we’ll be waiting a long time.
