The vacant Trade Winds Motor Inn will undergo a $3 million renovation this year and reopen as a Howard Johnson Hotel.

The announcement comes after the initial news of the plans broke in May.

A deal has been struck to sell the motel, which sits at the terminus of the westbound Lincoln Street exit off of Interstate 90.

New owner David Malik said a contractor has been selected. The restored hotel will have 60 rooms and retain its mid-century modern look.

The deal was brokered by NAI Black Commercial associate Mark Pinch.
