A Spokane rescue cat is recovering after being shot with an arrow last week.

The cat, Bella, was found under a neighbor’s porch the night of June 29 with an arrow through her hip and back, said Cindy Knudsen, president of Pawsitive Outreach Spay/Neuter Alliance.

Bella was a rescue cat who was recently adopted by one of POSNA’s foster families in northwest Spokane just a day before she was going to be sent to a kill shelter.

Knudsen says Bella accidentally got out after dark on the night she was shot. Neighbors helped free her and she was rushed to the emergency vet, who was able to operate on her and remove the arrow.

“There is good hope for her full recovery, although she is very depressed and in a great deal of pain right now in spite of pain medication,” Knudsen wrote in an email.

A report has been filed with SCRAPS, Knudsen said.

POSNA is raising money to pay for Bella’s medical bills, which are so far over $1,000. Contributions can be made online at gofundme.com/2bwewr2s or to POSNA at P.O. Box 1241, Newport, WA, 99156.
