Surveillance necessary

The Froma Harrop column (“Surveillance is a necessary tool,” June 18) was on the spot. Everyone wants to be free of government intrusion, but sometimes it is necessary to investigate some people. Do I like my freedom? You bet I do.

Most people want complete privacy and complete security. Unfortunately, you can never have 100 percent freedom and 100 percent security. Surveillance is definitely a necessary tool.
