Enforce current laws

There are no gun-buying loopholes in Washington state. Firearms are among the most regulated items in the country. Every firearm distributed by a manufacturer or wholesale business and/or sold by a licensed firearm dealer is traceable by the ATF. Every firearm sold by a licensed dealer comes with a background check and the approval of the FBI.

The gun show and online loopholes don’t exist in this state. Any firearm sold in any location or by any process by a licensed dealer requires a background check and FBI approval. Anyone in the business of buying and selling firearms is required to have a federal license. In some states, including Washington, even sales between private parties are regulated and require background checks.

Like anything else, there is a black market for firearms, which is how criminals get them-by not following the law. Anyone in the business of selling guns without a license is breaking the law. People in the business who ship firearms to anywhere other than another licensed dealer to deliver the firearm to the buyer after a background check are breaking the law.

What we have are adequate laws, lots of them, that need better enforcement.
