Girls basketball roundup: Swannack pours in 30 as Lakeside wins sixth-straight

Lakeside sophomore Sienna Swannack scored 30 points on 11-of-22 shooting and grabbed six rebounds as the Eagles ran their winning streak to six games with a 57-38 Northeast A League win over Chewelah Tuesday night in Nine Mile Falls.

Lakeside (11-3, 7-1) led by a point at halftime, but outscored the Cougars 13-9 in the third quarter and 19-5 in the fourth.

Sonja Marikis added 11 points and Hallie Jensen added eight points, 10 rebounds and five blocks for the Eagles.

Maggie Kobb scored 21 for Chewelah (9-5, 6-3).

Freeman 55, Medical Lake 42: Sydney Sather had 14 points and nine steals as the Scotties (7-7, 5-3) opened the game on a 23-7 run and beat the visiting Cardinals (3-10, 2-6). Cassidy Crosswhite added 13 points for Freeman. Medical Lake’s Michaela Peterson scored 10.

Newport 44, Colville 40: Hadley Stratton scored 14 points to guide the Grizzlies (6-8, 5-3) past the host Indians (3-11, 1-7). Colville’s Kayla Morris scored 15.

Riverside 34, Deer Park 22: Ava West scored 10 points and Julianna Trepanier added nine as the Rams (7-5, 6-2) beat the visiting Stags (1-12, 1-8). Deer Park’s Jillian Widman scored eight.

Great Northern

Clarkston 62, Pullman 46: Sequoia Swan made 4 of 5 3-pointers and scored 17 points and Jaclyn Meyers added 14 as the Bantams (8-6, 5-1) defeated the Greyhounds (5-9, 1-5) in Pullman. Clarkston, which made 7 of 13 3-pointers, pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring Pullman 21-13. The Greyhounds’ Madi Mueller had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Cheney 35, West Valley 32: Brette Draper and Hannah Lemelin scored seven points apiece and the Blackhawks (6-8, 2-4) did enough to get past the host Eagles (4-10, 1-5). West Valley’s Aaliyah scored 10 points and Rachel McGlothlen added six points and 10 rebounds in her first game back from a leg injury.

Northeast 2B

Liberty 61, Northwest Christian 50: Christine Denny poured in 28 points to help guide the Lancers (9-6, 5-4) past the visiting Crusaders (8-7, 6-4). Madelynne Flaig added 14 for Liberty, which used an 18-10 fourth-quarter run to pull away. Northwest Christian’s Rachel Bozlee scored 18.

Tekoa-Rosalia 41, Wilbur-Creston 35: Nikki Overton had 11 points and nine rebounds and Tommie Pakootas added three 3-pointers and 11 points as the Timberwolves (4-11, 2-7) edged the Wildcats (4-9, 2-8) in Rosalia. Karlee Maioho and Ireland Corrigan scored 11 points apiece for Wilbur-Creston.

Northeast 1B

Wellpinit 53, Valley Christian 42: Christina Carden scored eight of her 14 points in the decisive third quarter to power the Redskins (6-8, 5-4) past the visiting Panthers (7-8, 5-5). Fawn Ford added 12 points for Wellpinit, which went ahead by 15 after outscoring Valley Christian 20-11 in the third. Kendra Pope led Valley Christian with 12 points and 24 rebounds.

Republic 63, Northport 31: Shania Graham scored 17 points and Demi Jo Vaughn added 16 as the Tigers (15-1, 10-1) got out to a fast start and eased past the host Mustangs (4-9, 3-7). Northport’s Hailey Young scored 16.

Selkirk 69, Inchelium 25: Whitney Dawson had 15 points and eight rebounds and Hannah Rick added 14 points and 10 boards as the Rangers (9-6, 7-4) dumped the Hornets (2-9, 1-8) in Ione. Gabi Rick added 11 points and 10 rebounds and Jennifer Goodnight chipped in a season-high 10 points for Selkirk, who have won three straight. Inchelium’s Olivia Williams scored 14.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 69, Columbia 5: Gabi Isaak scored 12 points and Berlyn Hunt and Brenna Oliver added 10 apiece as the Warriors (13-1, 10-0) overwhelmed the Lions (0-10, 0-8) in Coulee City. Columbia was held scoreless in the final three quarters.

Southeast 1B

Garfield-Palouse 64, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 14: Payson Griner scored 24 points and Katie Arrasmith added 17 as the Vikings (6-8, 3-6) overwhelmed the host Tigercats (2-10, 0-9). Garfield-Palouse opened the game on a 20-3 run and led 38-7 at halftime.

North Star

Wallace 53, Genesis Prep 32: Maryssa Hogamier scored 20 points and Gretchen Farkas added 14 as the Miners soared ahead after a sluggish first quarter and beat the visiting Jaguars. Wallace trailed 15-11 after the first quarter, but outscored Genesis Prep 19-7 in the second.

Nonleague

Coeur d’Alene 60, Lakeland 29: Emily Callahan scored 29 points and the Vikings (7-9) routed the Hawks (4-11) in Rathdrum. Lakeland’s Tawna Kirk scored 13 points and Savannah Pruitt grabbed 10 rebounds.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 57, Connell 54: Tessa Jantz scored 10 of her 22 points in the fourth quarter and added 10 rebounds as the Broncos (12-3) edged the host Eagles. Peyton Curtis added 19 points for LRS. Connell’s Kassin Hopkins hit three fourth-quarter 3-pointers and finished with 18 points.

Priest River 44, Kettle Falls 40: Alissa Carey had 17 points, seven rebounds and three steals and Avery Summers added 11 points as the Spartans (10-5) edged the visiting Bulldogs (5-10). Kettle Falls’ Taylor Dunlap scored 10.
