Olympic ice dance champs Davis/White to be honored
Honored Olympic ice dance champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White will be honored in April by Figure Skating in Harlem. Davis-White, who won gold at the 2014 Sochi Games, will be hailed for their long-term service to figure skating.
Announced Irish pay-per-view star Conor McGregor will fight Nate Diaz at UFC 196 on March 5 after champion Rafael Dos Anjos (24-7) dropped out of their bout with a foot injury. The UFC announced the 170-pound matchup Tuesday night. McGregor (19-2) won the UFC featherweight title in December.
Considered Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is leaning more toward undergoing a Mumford procedure on his left clavicle than attaching a plate over the mending collarbone. The Mumford procedure is where a portion of the distal clavicle is shaved off or removed.
Alleged Estranged relatives of New Orleans Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson have asked the Louisiana Supreme Court to let the public see at least some of the court record from a civil case alleging Benson is in poor mental health and was manipulated into changing his succession plan for his pro sports teams. The petition was filed by Benson’s daughter, Renee, and her children, Rita and Ryan LeBlanc.
Revealed An attorney for sportscaster and TV personality Erin Andrews told a jury that she felt horror, shame and humiliation when she discovered that someone had secretly filmed her nude at a Nashville Marriot. Andrews has filed a civil lawsuit against the hotel’s owner, its manager and the man who pleaded guilty to stalking her.
Selected John Isner, Jack Sock and the Bryan twins will represent the United States against Australia in the first round of the Davis Cup next month. The U.S. and Australia have met 45 times in Davis Cup play. The Americans hold a 25-20 edge.
Signed Jim Ross, a longtime play-by-play voice for World Wrestling Entertainment, has signed on to be a boxing play-by-play announcer for CBS Sports. His debut will be March 12.
