Our beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend will greatly be missed.
Maureen was born on November 26, 1919 in Spokane, Washington to Catherine R. and William F. McCanna.
She was raised in Spokane with her sisters and brother.
She attended St. Ann’s Catholic School, Holy Names Academy, and Marycliff High School.
She graduated from Kelsey-Baird Secretarial School and Pasadena City College.
Maureen married Charles J. Moran on June 18, 1946.
Maureen and Chuck lived in Spokane where their six children were born, they later moved to San Gabriel, California.
She was the mother of Michael, Molly, Melissa, Mark, Mary, and Matthew.
She was dedicated to her career at the United States Postal Service (USPS).
After retirement, Maureen returned to Spokane.
She was a devout parishioner of San Gabriel Mission, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, and St. Thomas More Parish, and was also a member of Catholic Daughters of the America’s.
She was a world traveler.
Her love of travel took her to England, Ireland, Norway, Croatia, China, Egypt, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, and on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje.
Maureen was a classy lady who never wanted to miss a party.
She was loved by her family for her grace, humility, and compassion.
Maureen is survived by her sister Colleen (Sig) Siguardson; and her brother Daniel McCanna; her children Michael (Stacy), Molly (Jon), Melissa (Mike), Mark, Mary (Rafael), and Matthew (Alonda); her sixteen grandchildren Brian (Stephanie) Moran, Lea Moran, Kristie (Rob) Christoff, Jenni (Brian) Stockdale, Nicole Torres-Lopez, Matthew (Stacey) Torres, Mark (Shawny) Torres, Luis (Jenna) Moran, Melina Moran-Fitzpatrick, Sara (Rob) Kenney, Jimmy (Erika) Ramirez, DeAnna (Alex) Ganea, Damien (Maureen) Ramirez, Josh Moran, Matthew (Amy) Mulder, and Megan Mulder; and thirty great grandchildren Brandon, Sydney, Savannah, and Brayden Moran, Delaney and Makena Christoff, Victoria, Alexandria, Gabriella, Isabella, and Noah Lopez, Alissa Torres and Anthoney Rodriguez, Lola, Ayla, Koda, Kaia Torres and Tate Lopez, Anabella and Morrison Fitzpatrick, Leo, Maya, Pearl, and Jorge Kenney, Haydon and Wyatt Ramirez, Emaleia Fish and Elena Jane Ganea, and Charlie and Frankie Ramirez.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine R. and William F. McCanna; and her sister Maxine McCanna Meeks.
Our matriarch was greatly loved and will truly be missed.
Vigil services will be Monday, February 15, 2016 at 7:00pm at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 505 W. St. Thomas More Way, Spokane, WA with visitation beginning at 6pm.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 11:00am also at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, 17825 E. Trent Avenue, Spokane, WA.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Spokane.
