Congresswoman helps vets

For far too long the Veterans Administration has allowed veterans to suffer because of an antiquated scheduling system. The failure of this system was brought to light in 2014, when it was discovered that the VA was hiding the long wait times; leaving 35 veterans dead before they could even get an appointment.

Even with all the public attention on the issue, the number of vets waiting 30 days or more increased by 50 percent in the year following the scandal. That is unacceptable. In response, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers has sponsored the Faster Care for Veterans Act, which would push the VA to use modern scheduling software without delay.

America is the most technologically advanced nation in the world. There is no reason our veterans should be subjected to a medical scheduling system developed in 1980s, when we have excellent options already at our disposal.

Cathy is actually listening to our veterans and cutting through the Washington, D.C., bureaucracy to find innovative solutions for government made problems. We owe Cathy a thanks for her commitment to our veterans.
