Agreed Relief pitcher Joel Peralta agreed to a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners and will report to big league spring training. The 39-year-old righty has spent parts of 11 seasons in the major leagues with six clubs.

Right-hander Mat Latos agreed to a $3 million, one-year contract with the Chicago White Sox, giving manager Robin Ventura another option for the back end of his rotation. Latos played for the Marlins, Dodgers and Angels last season, finishing with a 4-10 record and a 4.95 ERA.

Negotiated A.L. MVP Josh Donaldson and the Toronto Blue Jays are nearing agreement on a $28.65 million, two-year contract, according to a person familiar with the negotiations. The agreement has not been completed. Donaldson and the Blue Jays had been scheduled for a salary arbitration hearing next week.

Decided Houston Astros catcher Jason Castro became the first player to lose in salary arbitration this year. Castro was awarded $5 million by the arbitrators, who heard arguments a day earlier. Castro had asked for a raise from $4 million to $5.25 million.

Reported Prosecutors are reviewing a police file as they decide whether to charge Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy in a Philadelphia nightclub brawl that left two off-duty police officers injured. The Philadelphia Police Department reported that the argument began as a possible misunderstanding over a bottle of champagne. Police say the off-duty officers were kicked and punched, leaving one with a broken nose and broken ribs and the other with a possible skull fracture.

Retired Stanford DL coach Randy Hart is retiring after 46 years as a college coach. Hart said he is “one of the luckiest coaches ever” for being able to have a career that took him to Tampa, Iowa State, Purdue, Ohio State, Washington, Notre Dame and Stanford.

Injured Duke says QB Thomas Sirk has ruptured his left Achilles tendon. Coach David Cutcliffe said Sirk injured the tendon during a team conditioning session and that he’s scheduled for surgery Wednesday. His return is unknown.

Announced Tennis player Andy Murray has become a father for the first time after his wife, Kim Sears, gave birth to a girl. Murray’s management company says Sears gave birth on Sunday, a week after the 28-year-old Scot lost the Australian Open final.

The Seattle Storm re-signed forward Crystal Langhorne and point guard Angel Goodrich, the WNBA team announced.
