Media one-sided

Marian Hennings’ letter (“Media not obliged,” Dec. 1) is a case of one being happy when one’s own ox is not the one being gored. It seems to me that the media have an obligation to report the news, not engineer it. During the last election cycle, the many faults of Donald Trump were “trumpeted” by the media, and in some cases, rightly so.

However, the faults of Hillary Clinton were ignored by the media. Thus it is disingenuous to defend this journalistic myopia on the basis of lack of obligation. The media had an agenda in this election, pursued it with their typical partisan fervor, ignored half of the story and the voters saw through it.

Hennings would undoubtedly have another complaint had her candidate of choice been the one subjected to such one-sided scrutiny.
